Think of a world without our "great political leaders".
Now if George w. was suddenly captured by Alpha Centaurians and placed in a zoo, light years from earth, how would the world react? George who? Not much tourist appeal for eathlings looking to visit Alpha Cenatauri. A war? What war? You mean the USA is involved in a war. Where is this Iraq place? Is it part of Canada?
What if Osama fell into a bottomless cave in Afghanistan and was never seen again? Would Arab TV channels still play his tapes as re-runs? Would the CIA continue to search for him, or would they find some other futile mission to justify their existence? Would the GWBless US continue to raise the security alert level to orange every time a re-run was aired?
Imagine if Paul Martin, Jack Layton, and that other guy(does he have a name or a face?) decided to go on a trade mission to the Moon and their space craft missed the Moon and ended up on a mission to the outer reaches of the Universe. Could we cope? GWBless. Osamaless and now PMJLandtogless? This planet just got a little lighter.
" No Queen's message" you say. " The Vatican can't find the Pope" you say. Hmmm. Putin disappeared on a tour of Siberia. Nobody can find a politician anywhere. Surely armaggedon is at hand; surely the world will end; surely the rivers will cease to flow, the newpapers will cease to publish, CNN will implode, and BBC Newsworld will start airing re-runs of Faulty Towers.
Will the "sun come up tomorrow"?
The game must go on! The Fiesta Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the Hula Bowl, the Rose Bowl, the Citrus Bowl and, yes the Cereal Bowl must be played today. Who needs anything else?
